As skin experts, one of the most common questions we get asked is 'How do I know what routine is right for me and when to use which products?'. So we decided to make it easy and deconstruct the steps of a night time routine and why it is important for Indian skin to have a dedicated nighttime skincare routine
Step 1 : Cleanser
A cleanser is a must for India's harsh & polluted climate. A cleanser will help remove dust and particulate matter caught in your pores through the day and keep your skin fresh. A gentle pH balanced cleanser is the first step to prepare your face for the steps that follow.
Step 2 : Toner
Once you've cleaned your face, it's important to make sure that it is balanced and primed to accept other ingredients. If you're used to them, acid based toners like our Gulab & Glycolic Toner which has potent alpha hydroxy acids( AHA) like Glycolic acid and Hyaluronic Acid will work to exfoliate, tone and hydrate. If you're still wary of AHAs, our Indoor Protection Mist works as a great toner as well.
Step 3 : Treatment
Once you've cleansed and toned and made your skin ready, it's time to treat. This is where the power actives come in to address your skin concern. Serums, Peels, Masks - all the products with power ingredients go at this step. Indian skin has a compromised barrier and gets severely damaged due to our high levels of dust and pollution, hence pigmentation, dark circles, uneven patchiness, dull & damaged skin are common skincare concerns which need to be treated.
Step 4 : Night Cream
Once you've treated the skin - you need to seal it in. A night cream post the treatment makes sure the skin is hydrated, along with its own actives to build onto the entire night care regimen. When you sleep is when your skin gets the most rest to repair and rejuvenate itself . Choosing a night cream that is suitable for your skin type and helps your skin to renew itself is key to waking up to healthy glowing skin!
This is the basic night care regimen - you can always add more components like an oil cleanser for a double cleanse, layer your serums for different concerns and different masks as well. It's important to note that most routines follow a general rhythm to make sure the skin is primed for the right ingredients at the right time.
